Growing Up: A Journey of Purpose
From a young age, I always felt like I didn’t quite fit into the mold of the system I was raised in. While others seemed satisfied with following the conventional path of excelling in school, earning a degree, and securing a stable job, I constantly wrestled with a deeper feeling—was this truly all there was? Despite achieving a Master’s in Chemical Engineering and gaining invaluable experience in process engineering and production management, I found myself questioning: Is this really what I want?
Conversations with colleagues only confirmed my growing doubts. Many admitted they were simply going through the motions, working for a paycheck to cover their mortgages and bills. Somewhere along the way, I had lost touch with the passion and purpose that once drove me, and I began to wonder: Is it still possible to find meaning in my work?
The Motivation Behind Mumkin
Starting my own business had always appealed to me—not just for the independence, but because it offered a chance to align my work with my values. I realized that time is our most precious resource, and I didn’t want to spend it pursuing something that lacked meaning. I wanted my time to matter—not just for myself, but for others.
Two key experiences shaped the vision for Mumkin. The first came during my recent job, when the conflict in Gaza dominated global headlines. I felt powerless, going through the motions of my daily routine while people on the other side of the world faced unimaginable hardship. It was a moment of reckoning, where I realized I had been too focused on myself and not enough on the global scale. I wanted to make a difference, but I didn’t know how.
The second influence was my grandfather, who always advised me, "Any work you do, make sure it is of impact." His words resonated deeply, prompting me to question whether my current path would truly lead to a life of purpose. Even though I was working for a fast-growing company, I knew I needed to venture out and pursue my own mission—a mission that reflected my values and desire to contribute meaningfully to the world.
The Birth of Mumkin
The idea for Mumkin, which means “possible” in Arabic, was born out of my desire to live a fulfilling life with purpose and create something meaningful. After years of working in corporate settings, I knew I wanted to build something that aligned with my values—something that could make a positive impact.
Over the past two years, I worked for two very different companies that ultimately helped shape the vision for Mumkin. One was a co-packing start-up, where I gained invaluable experience in product quality, development, and manufacturing. The other was an eCommerce company that brought its manufacturing in-house, where I learned the ins and outs of building something from the ground up, training operators, commissioning machines, and overseeing the entire production process of cosmetics and creams.
These experiences taught me not only the importance of quality and innovation but also what it means to start from scratch. In those fast-paced environments, I learned how to develop products that were crafted with care and precision. It was here that I realized the potential to create my own brand—one that reflected my passion for quality and making a meaningful difference.
